Just a week before the storm hit, the Gite Gallery team redecorated the home of client Sheila Carr with several pieces of amazing art and accessories.
Sixteen years ago, Carr’s home, located in the Woodforest subdivision near I-10 East, flooded during Tropical storm Allison. She had six feet of water inside her home and lost everything, but she decided to rebuild and stay.
When word of Harvey came, Carr acted quickly. She took all of her new art down except four large pieces and stored them in her attic. She also removed the majority of her clothing and other personal items. When Harvey hit, Carr and her sister were forced to flee to higher ground. She returned a few days later to discover nearly seven feet of water inside and all of her furniture was destroyed. Harvey blew the sides out of her detached garage as well as the two-car metal garage door.
Carr and her sister are now living in a highrise apartment near downtown. She plans to rebuild the home and sell it and move elsewhere.
Below you will find some before and after pictures of Carr’s Woodforest home.
