Hello Art Lovers,
We at The Gite Gallery wish to congratulate Sylvester Turner on his winning the election for mayor of the city of Houston. As the mayor of the fourth largest city, the former Texas State Representative has his work cut out for him. We want him to succeed as being one of the city’s best leaders ever. His job will include battling increasing crime, a shaky economy, a huge deficit and the filling of many potholes. This mayor also has the chance to make sure Houston remains a vibrant arts community.
We at The Gite Gallery are hopeful that the new mayor will add this to his to-do list for Houston. To remain a vibrant and thriving city, we must include all segments of society. Let’s hope under Mayor Turner we will see more support for African-American artists and organizations.
